“We are so back.” I have repeated these words every single day for the past month. The pre-season butterflies grow with the news of fall camps beginning, with NFL pre-season games, and with the outrageous takes spewing out of any individual with a microphone or keyboard in front of them. I am so excited to get back to writing about the best sport in the world. This blog article will be short and sweet—just like Week 0. Let’s get into what this blog is about and what I plan to do with it.

“Prime Picks” will be a weekly blog post that outlines my best bets for the upcoming weekend, along with stats and my expertise on why I am making the pick. I use DraftKings for lines and primarily focus on spreads, underdog ML, and game totals. I keep a spreadsheet of each week and list every single game, the spread, and the winners of the game and spread. It is a tedious task, but I find excitement in keeping track of my picks this way and preparing for the week ahead. I make a pick for ML and a spread for every single game. From those picks, I choose my best bets—or now, “Prime Picks.” Those picks will be discussed in these blogs each week and reviewed on the Sunday after in my “Gridiron Debrief” segments.

I would also like to add that making picks each week is all about fun for me. It helps me dive deeper into the games, dig up fun and interesting statistics, and just learn more about the players and teams. With that said, do not place bets solely based on my opinion, especially if you do not have the funds to do so responsibly. Now, let’s get away from the housekeeping bullshit—and let’s get into some picks.

As said before, Week 0 is short and sweet, so my list of Prime Picks will be short and sweet. Next week, I plan on going all out for Week 1 and adding a lot of fun picks to the board. For now, let’s focus on two lines this week that jumped out at me off the DraftKings Sportsbook.

Iowa State @ Kansas State (Dublin, Ireland)  Prime Pick: ISU +3.0

Farmageddon takes a trip across the pond this year to play in the Week 0 Aer Lingus College Football Classic. Both teams are favorites to be the Big 12 champ, although KSU is a heavier favorite than ISU, and they are set to have very talented teams this year. I expect Avery Johnson and company to be one of the most dangerous offenses in the game this year, but there is something about ISU that has me high on them this year. They have a shot to win the Big 12.

For this pick, I kept it simple: my gut says ISU, the trends say ISU, so I have to go with ISU. One trend I found that stuck out to me—since 2014, the underdog in this game is 8-3 ATS, and ISU is 5-2 ATS in their last seven matchups. It kills me to pick a side in this one since I love both teams, but I have to go with the Cyclones in this matchup—cheers to a great game… as long as ISU covers.

Stanford @ Hawai’i  Prime Pick: HAW -2.5

I want you to know something about me. When it comes to my picks of the week, I base them on my knowledge, trends, stats, Josh Pate’s Ramen Noodle Express, Phil Steele’s 2025 Preview Magazine, and the most important factor of all—VIBES.

I irresponsibly go by a saying each year and almost each week: never bet against Hawai’i at home—very dumb take, as the stats and trends do not back it up at all. But I do not claim to be a smart man, and many CFB experts predict them to break out this year—that is all I needed to hear. This is a vibes pick, and Hawai’i at home has all of the vibes. LOCK IT.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this today. Do not forget to sign up for our email list so you can be notified whenever a new blog post is published. I am excited for this season, and I am excited for Week 0. Cheers to all for the beginning of a long and glorious football season!
