Well, that was a wild week 2. Awful for my Prime Picks, but great everywhere else. Upsets, Chaos, and Primetime College Football. I am getting to this blog a little bit later this week, so let’s go ahead and get right into it. Let’s review my god awful Prime Picks of week 2.
Illinois @ Duke - ILL -2.5
WIN
This one was easy, never a doubt at all. (There was a lot of doubt in the 1st quarter) Just as I predicted, Illinois would not only cover, but blow Duke out of the water. Illinois is the real deal this year, and they showed that this weekend by taking care of a solid Duke team. Easy win, little stress.
Houston @ Rice - OVER 39.5
WIN
This was one was scary. Up until the 4th quarter, the score was 14-3. For those not good at math, that is only a total of 17. I needed 23 more points in the 4th quarter alone, and the trend of this game had all of my hopes on their death beds. Then, right when the 4th quarter began, Houston scored via pick 6. XP was made there’s 7 more. The very next drive, Rice marched down the field in two plays, scoring 6 after failing a 2 point conversion. The drive after that, Houston did their version of a two play march, and added 7 more points to the board. Finally, with only 3:40 left in the game, Houston nails a long 40 yard TD, solidifying the over. What a rush, what a game, this is what we love about college football.
Western Kentucky @ Toledo - WKU +7.5
LOSS
This one went horribly wrong. The final score was 45-21 Toledo. I thought this would be an offensive explosion, and I was half right. WKU just couldnt keep up, and it was never a shootout as I hope. Damn you Big Red. Damn you to hell.
San Jose St @ Texas - Texas -36.5
LOSS
This on stung. If only a few things went right, this one would be a win. But, that ’s college football baby. Arch and the Texas offense had another slow start, but their defense forced 4 turnovers, and it started to look like Texas would turn the tide and cover. However, Texas’ 2 turnovers and lackluster start to the offense wouldn’t get it done. Sad sad Longhorns.
Miami (OH) @ Rutgers - M-OH +15.5
LOSS
Have nothing to say about this one. Rutgers put belt to ass.
Ole Miss @ Kentucky - MISS -8.5
LOSS
THIS ONE DROVE ME CRAZY. LANE!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!
So, this game was close all 4 quarters, but Ole Miss pulled away late and were up by 10 with less than a minute left. Ole Miss let Kentucky march down the field, kick a quick field goal, and they would try to get an inside kick. The big play they allowed that let them kick a field goal was inexcusable and the field goal destroyed my hopes and dreams of winning this spread. This one hurts, but it left me wanting more. Sports gambling baby.
